“OK.” She said cheerfully before grabbing her purse from the dash, and making her way towards the tow truck driver.
I watched as she batted her lashes, and touched his arm in a flirtatious manor. Of course she'd use her feminine wiles to get some kind of deal. Owen chose then to exit the truck so that he could grab his guitar, and bag from the back.
“Do you need anything?” He asked, as I came to join him.
“Just the small bag.”
He grabbed my bag for me, and one of Morgan's before shutting the tailgate. A few seconds later Morgan came by, and told us that the driver agreed to drop us at a motel just a block away from the tire repair shop. I made sure to thank him profusely, and then the three of us awkwardly climbed up into the cab of his tow truck.
Morgan sat next to the driver, followed by me, and then Owen. We were squeezed in so tightly that Owen placed his arm around me, and I rested mine on his leg. I felt his breath in my hair, as he turned towards me with a smile on his face. Morgan was talking animatedly with the driver, and it was almost like we were in our own separate worlds.
I smiled back at him, and he leaned towards me. I lifted my chin and came closer, and closer until his lips met mine in a sweet peck.
“I promise to tell you everything.” He whispered. “Just as soon as I get you alone again.”
“Only if you're ready.” I whispered back.
“I honestly don't know if I'll ever be... but you make me want to find out, Ronnie Locke.”
I smiled and he pecked my lips once again, before returning his gaze back to the road ahead of us. Morgan was still talking, and I noticed that her hand was now resting on the driver's thigh. I shook my head, and Owen ran his thumb over my shoulder. I laid my head down against him, and closed my eyes. If I had to be stuck in a tow truck with Morgan's incessant flirting, at least I could try to sneak a nap in.
ELEVEN
THANKS TO MORGAN'S flirtatious nature, the tow truck driver took us all the way to Maryland. He dropped our truck off, and after making arrangements to have it fixed, he then took us to the hotel that Morgan had booked earlier in the day. It was no where near as nice as the one we shared in Virginia, but it didn't seem to bother anyone but her.
She argued with the manager for a good twenty minutes, insisting that they had to have some kind of room upgrade available. Of course they didn't, and she finally gave in when I pulled her aside to talk some sense into her. We were here, together, and all in one piece and that's what mattered. That, and the fact that she'd scored a dinner date with the driver.
Instead of settling into our room, she left with him, and told me not to wait up. I didn't mind the reprieve though. I took a nice long shower, and after brushing my hair I changed into something comfortable. With the day that we just had, all I wanted to do was find some place that delivered, and veg out. That, and hopefully finish my conversation with Owen.
I thought about knocking on his door, but I didn't want to bother him. When he mentioned his wife, I got the feeling that it was a sore subject. He didn't say ex though, did he? Did that mean that he was still married? Was that why he was having such a hard time pressing the gas on us?
I paced my room for a while, debating on how I should handle things. I knew that I needed to go to him. The odds were that Morgan would end up back here at some point, and I couldn't handle another interruption from her.
My hair was still damp, and beginning to frizz but I didn't give it a second thought. I used the hair tie on my wrist, and tossed it up into a messy bun on the top of my head, and then I walked out of my room, and over to Owen's.
He was only two doors down from Morgan and I, and in that short time my heart managed to beat ten times faster. I took a deep breath before knocking, and then I stood there. Waiting. It felt like forever, but when he finally answered the door he was standing in front of me in nothing but a hotel towel. A towel that clearly wasn't large enough to cover everything properly.
“Do you always answer your door in a towel?” I asked with a hitch in my voice.
“Only when I know it's you.” He winked before ushering me inside, and locking the door behind us.
I swallowed the lump in my throat as he came towards me, and he grinned. When he reached me, he placed his left hand on my cheek.
“It looks like we had the same idea, Unicorn.”
“To take a shower?” I asked softly.
He chuckled. “That too.”
I blushed, and he ran his thumb under my chin before tilting it up towards him.
“Those kisses in the truck earlier were just a prelude to what I really want to do.” He whispered, as he brought his lips closer to mine.
I could feel his breath mingling with mine, and I found myself leaning closer. He smiled letting his bottom lip brush against mine, and my breath caught in my throat.
“I- we need to finish our conversation.” I said, suddenly remembering the reason I came over here.
He rested his forehead on mine, and closed his eyes.
“I thought you might say that. Let me just put some clothes on.”
“You don't have to.” I rushed out. “I mean-”
“You aren't making this any easier, Unicorn.” He said, gesturing towards his lower region.
I bit my bottom lip, before quickly turning away from him. He laughed, and I could hear the sound of the towel hitting the ground. It took every ounce of will power I had not to turn around. I had seen what he was working with through his clothing, and now through a flimsy towel. My imagination was already running wild. All I had to do was turn around. Just one little peek. A peek wouldn't hurt right? I shook my head. He could be a married man! I need to get myself under control.
A short time later, Owen cleared his throat.
“It's safe to look now.” He teased.
I slowly spun around to face him, and he winked at me. He'd gotten dressed alright, too bad he conveniently forgot to put a shirt on. Every single tattoo was on full display, and for the second time since meeting him I thought about using my tongue to trace them.
“It's not too late you know. We can skip the talking, and go straight to the-”
“No.” I said, stopping him. “I want to know. I need to.”
He nodded, before sitting down on the side of the bed, and patting the space beside him. I took the space he offered, and we sat so that we were facing each other. He ran his hand through his still damp hair nervously, before giving me a soft smile.
“I guess I should start at the beginning.”
“OK.” I smiled back, reaching for his hand in a show of support.
“I met Abigail when I was sixteen. I know it sounds cliché, but it really was love at first sight. For the both of us. We dated all through high school, and our freshman year of college, she was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer.”
My eyes met with his then, and clearly he could see the concern there because he gave my hand a squeeze. I nodded gently for him to continue.
“Her initial thought was to fight it, and she did. She did chemotherapy, and radiation, and for a few short months she was even in remission. She changed her diet, exercised regularly, and did anything, and everything the doctor's suggested, but it came back. It was more aggressive the second time, and by the third, it had begun to spread. She was only twenty-five when she died, and that was nearly four years ago.”
“Owen.” I said, as a tear slid down my cheek. “I'm so sorry.”
“We pushed our wedding up, because she insisted on taking my last name. I couldn't deny her anything, not even when she was healthy. I honestly felt like she was the love of my life. For two years, I didn't even talk to another woman. I put everything into my lyrics. I moved away from home, and tried to make a name for myself just like I knew she wanted me to. When I finally decided to try again... to date a little, I felt like I was betraying her. So instead of getting attached, I slept around. I used sex as a coping mechanism, and for a long time I thought that it was enough. I thought
that by keeping women at arms length I wasn't betraying what I had with Abigail, but I was wrong. I realized that living my life the way that I have been, wasn't honoring her at all. I'm still here. I have a life to live, and she doesn't. How is it fair of me to squander that?”
“I don't know what to say. Of all the things you could have told me, I never in a million years would have suspected this. I guess it makes sense now. All the hot, and cold. I'm truly sorry if I pushed you.”
He took both of my hands in his then, and ran his thumbs over them.
“That's just it, Ronnie. I needed the push. I can't explain it, but there's something about you that makes me want to try again. It makes me want something real, again. And like I said, it scares the living hell out of me. The last time I let myself feel something, I lost it. I lost her. I don't know if I could handle something like that again. I know you said you'd be alright with just sex, but the truth is I don't know if I can give you that, and not want more.”
Holy shit. My mind was completely blown right now. I was expecting to hear that he was married, or that he had some secret love child somewhere. Never in my wildest dreams did I think a man like him would want anything like he was describing with someone like me. If anything, he and Morgan had more in common than I'd like to admit. They both used sex to try and avoid feelings, but truthfully they were the ones who felt the deepest.
“I know it's a lot to take in.” He said, drawing my attention back to him. “And I don't expect you to feel the same way, or any way really. I just needed you to understand.”
“I can't say that I know what a future would look like for the two of us. What I can say, is that I like you. I see you, and my heart races. When I think about the day you took me on the bike, it was the day that I felt most like myself in years. Every time you smile at me, it's contagious. I look at your lips, and all I want to do is kiss them. I know everything I'm saying right now probably sounds so cringe-y, and I promise I'm not some kind of stage five clinger. I just need you to know before we go any further here.”
“Does that mean you want to wait?” He asked.
“Do you?” I countered.
“Hell no.” He laughed.
“Oh, thank God.” I laughed back just before he pulled me into his arms, and kissed me senseless.
His lips slid over mine like butter, and soon he was positioning me so that I was straddling his waist. I deepened our kiss, as his hands roamed from my back, to my hips, before landing on my ass. I could feel him growing hard beneath me, and he squeezed my ass cheeks urging me to grind against him. He didn't have to tell me twice. I started to work my hips in a frenzy, and he groaned into my mouth.
I tangled my hands in his hair, and soon I was moaning right along with him as the friction between us started to become too much to handle. He dipped his head to the crook of my neck, licking, and nipping me there. I moved my hips faster against him then, and he reached for the hem of my shirt.
As soon as I felt him tug, I lifted my arms over my head. He gave the material a fling, and I placed my hands on his strong chest. He reached between us then, pulling the draw string on my shorts loose. I stopped moving, and he reached behind me to unclasp my bra. I let it fall from my shoulders, and he added it to the pile he'd started in the corner of the room.
“Damn.” He said, reaching out to cup my breasts in his hands. “I want to explore every, single, inch of you, Unicorn.”
“What's stopping you, then?” I teased.
He chuckled. “Right now? Nothing but the clothing between us.”
I slowly climbed from his lap, and stood. Giving him a sly smile I slid my shorts, and panties down over my hips, before letting them fall to the floor. I stepped out of them, and kicked them out of the way before crooking my finger. I had never felt so emboldened, but somehow Owen gave me the confidence. Maybe it was his story about Abigail, or the fact that he's shown his interest since the very beginning? Whatever the reason was, I was really enjoying this side of myself.
When he stood I reached for the button on his jeans, and slowly pulled down his zipper. With a little help from him, I managed to get him just as naked as I was. He stood before me now, in all of his glory looking like something straight out of a trashy romance novel. I subconsciously licked my lips, and he smiled down at me.
“Like what you see?” He teased.
“I won't lie... I'm a little intimidated.” I admitted.
“Don't be.” He said, reaching for my hand. “You set the pace. I'll follow your lead.”
“You like a woman in charge, huh?” I teased, as I stepped towards him.
“When that woman's you.”
“Oh!” I laughed. “Who's the cringe-y one now?”
He smiled, and without warning I gave him a little shove so that he fell back onto the bed. He grinned up at me, before pulling himself up the length of the bed. I climbed on beside him then, before straddling his waist. I could feel the tip of his erection teasing my entrance, and I rocked against it slowly.
“You're full of surprises, my little Unicorn.”
“Just you wait, and see.” I said, before guiding myself onto is rigid length.
He groaned, as I slowly slid down his shaft until he was buried deep within me. I had never been with anyone other than Derek, and let's just say he wasn't as 'blessed' as Owen was. Not only was he longer, but wider as well, and the way that he was stretching me was something I'd never experienced before.
I placed my hands on his chest, and began to rock my hips slowly getting used to the sensations. With every thrust I could feel him deeper, and deeper, until his tip was rubbing against my g spot. I moaned, and he ran his hands up my stomach, stopping at my breasts. He pinched, and kneaded my nipples lightly as I continued to work my hips.
I sat a little straighter, placing my hands on his wrists for leverage. As he played with my breasts, I began to move a little faster. I could hear his breathing grow shallow, and I moved faster again. The angle of my hips had me feeling two sensations at once. My clit was grinding against him, and his erection was expertly stroking my g spot.
I tossed my head back releasing his wrists, and then I felt his hands gripping my hips. He held me tightly, thrusting his hips up when I rocked forward. I cried out, as thrust after thrust hit me deeper, and deeper. I couldn't remember the last time that sex had felt this good, if ever. I was so wet that I had no idea how he was even staying inside of me.
I thought that it would be strange being with someone other than Derek. But being with Owen felt right. Natural. Like I had known him for my entire life. He knew exactly where to touch me, and how to hold me. Looking down at him, looking up at me, had every emotion swirling inside of me. The way he opened up tonight, and after fighting the sexual tension, all that I wanted, all that I craved was release. But only from him. No one, but him.
Every single nerve in my body was on edge. Every kiss, and every touch set a fire burning inside of me. Passion, I realized. Passion was something that had always been missing from my relationship with Derek. I couldn't explain it, but somehow I had found it in this man that I barely knew. I may not know what our future looks like, but I know that right now he's the only man that I want.
“Owen.” I breathed out, as I felt myself getting closer, and closer to release.
“I know, Unicorn.” He said, his voice low and full of gravel.
Seconds later, I completely lost my mind. The combined explosion of both my clit, and my g spot nearly driving me mad with pleasure. I cried out, and as I rode out my orgasm in a wave of undeniable pleasure, I felt Owen's release directly after mine. The sudden warmth from his own orgasm washed over me, filling me, and I cried out again. The shear force, enough to bring me over the edge.
My legs were shaking, and my body was trembling when I finally climbed from his lap to lay beside him. I closed my eyes when my head hit the pillow, and I literally sighed in contentment.
He chuckled. “I know, right.” He said.
“Don't
ruin it.” I teased, and he turned to pull me into his arms, making me squeal.
“Stay with me.” He said, before kissing me.
I smiled before nodding my head, and he kissed me again. I wrapped my arms around his neck, and he let his hands roam my body as he continued to kiss me. We were full on making out now, groping each other like a couple of horny teenagers. I had never enjoyed kissing. Not like this. It was just something that Derek, and I did when we said goodbye, or before we went to sleep.
When Owen kissed me, I felt wanted. Like I was the only woman in the world, and that he needed my lips just as much as I craved his. I could lay here like this kissing him all night, and I'd never grow bored of it.
After a while he finally pulled away from me, and I tried to pull him back. His stomach growled loudly then, and he laughed before pecking the end of my nose.
“As much as I'd like to stay just like this, Unicorn. I'm starving.”
“Me too.” I sadly admitted, sticking my bottom lip out for good measure.
He quickly sucked my protruding lip back into his mouth, and I giggled.
“That's a beautiful sound.” He said running his hand up, and down my back.
I didn't know how to respond, so I just snuggled against him. I felt him tense up, and I pulled away propping myself up on my elbow.
“Is everything alright?” I asked.
“Yeah.” He said softly. “It's just... I haven't exactly cuddled with anyone since Abigail.”
“I'm sorry.” I said, as I reached for the bed sheet so that I could cover myself. “I wasn't thinking.”
“No.” He said, tucking a strand of loose hair behind my ear. “I'm sorry. Don't leave. Please.”
I leaned over to kiss him. “On one condition.”
“Name it.”
“Order food.”
“Done.” He laughed, before springing out of the bed to grab his phone.
I couldn't help but admire his toned backside as I watched it walk away, and soon I was sporting the most ridiculous grin in the world. I can't believe that we finally hooked up, and the best part? It was even better than I imagined it could be. Just thinking about the way his hands felt while roaming my body had me wanting him all over again.
